Persepolis was a mythical city whose remains can be found at the territory if current Iran. The whole city was destroyed in 331 B.C. by Alexander the Great and his soldiers as a revenge for having Athens destroyed. "Persepolis" as a name of a musical group was chosen due to the group’s repertoire which consists of Persian songs. Persepolis plays traditional contemporary Persian music as well as original compositions of Shahab. Except for a few exceptions, the songs are played in different adaptations, with components of both flamenco and blues. Besides the guitar and singing you can also hear the traditional Persian instrument setar, and a guitar as a percussion instrument. "Persian night" is the name of the evening when these songs are being played.
